The world is being brainwashed by reality
television. Album links the show Honey Child Boo Boo with the suicide of Tony
Scott to show how the brainwashing is affecting our everyday lives. Rather than
help out the man on the ledge trying to end his life, people would rather
videotape the whole scene and put it on YouTube for all to see. Similarly,
people get enjoyment from watching a show about a mom that uses her daughter by
throwing her into pageants, giving her “go go juice” that cannot be healthy for
her, and telling her it is okay to grab your belly and act crazy. We really
should not condone this kind of behavior and yet that is exactly what we are
doing by watching the show. Reality TV like this is definitely making us more
apathetic. It’s like we will do anything just for a little entertainment.
I
think we are so drawn to reality television mostly because of curiosity. We want
to get the feel of other lifestyles without actually having to experience it firsthand.
There is nearly every lifestyle represented on television. You can see what it’s
like to be rich and famous without actually doing anything by watching Keeping
up with the Kardashians. You can see what it’s like to be a big cake decorator
with the show Cake Boss. You can see what life as a pregnant teenager is like
by watching 16 and Pregnant. I think this is why we watch reality TV. Just to
see what its like.
